1. Your foot is made up of 33 joints, 26 bones and more than a hundred muscles, tendons and ligaments. This explains why a lot of things can go wrong with the human foot - it is indeed very complex!
2. The foot has more than 250,000 sweat glands.
3. The combined sweat and bacteria in our socks and shoes produce a foul odor. Now we know why it stinks when not taken proper care of!
4. The average person spends 10-15 minutes applying soap or bath gel on his body and another ten minutes shampooing his hair but spends less than thirty seconds cleaning his feet.
5. A person with dry skin or diabetes should not soak his feet in warm water with Epsom salt. This worsen dryness of the skin. Instead, soak feet in warm, soapy water. You may use a few drops of dish washing liquid.
6. A majority number of people says that their feet are not checked whenever they have their regular physical exam.
7. Going barefoot is fun but not always safe! Although there is a recent trend of runners and even everyday people who go barefoot on marathons and on their way to the office, you should remember that you could always hurt yourself. Another factor to take into account, even if you are not diabetic, is that you could possible have neuropathy.
8. If you want celebrity-looking feet, apply lotion on your feet and massage it for a few minutes before you go to bed. Petroleum jelly will also do but remember to put on a pair of socks after to keep the moisture. This will prevent dry skin, soothe your muscles and leave you with feet you'll be proud of!
9. When a pair of running shoes has reached its maximum life of 200-400 miles of use, throw it away. It will do your feet harm despite being in its "broken-worn-torn-but-comfy" status.
10. There are four common foot treatment nowadays - surgery to remove fungal nails, surgery to correct bunions, surgery to reduce arthritis and unbearable pain and a shock wave therapy that uses shock waves to relieve heel pain.
