Swallow Mouthwash?

Mouthwash is intended to be spit out, not swallowed. mouthwash products can include ingredients that can be poisonous.

If you have swallowed a small amount of mouthwash:

If you or a child has swallowed a small amount of mouthwash there is no need to panic, but void doing it again.

Supervising children is very important when they are using mouthwash. Children should be supervised until they are 12 years old.  * Mouthwash is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

Pay attention don't get distracted while using mouthwash.

If you have swallowed a large amount of mouth wash:

Seek Help, call the national poison control center. When you call the center make sure you have accurate information about the victim (weight, age and etc.)

Sever symptoms of mouthwash overdoes can include:
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Trouble breathing
  • Convulsions or coma

*If you have any of theses symptoms head to the emergency room right away and bring the bottle of mouthwash with you.
