Update: Oklahoma Dentist Guilty Of Using Dirty Tools...
I've been following this story for a few weeks now, and you may have read some of my previous blogs about this, but if you haven't here's the scoop..
A couple of months ago, it was discovered that an Oklahoma dentist, Dr. W. Scot Harrington, was using dirty tools and equipment to do procedures on patients. He, as well as the staff, were also caught reusing needles. After an investigation, it was determined that due to his negligence, nearly 7,000 people were exposed to Hep C and HIV.
Testing began immediately following the investigation and still continues on now. Today, the report is that so far 57 people have tested positive for Hep C and 3 people tested positive for HIV.
Although Harrington voluntarily surrendered his license, he has yet to be formally charged with any crime.

Our hearts break for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings...
I'm sure you most of you will agree when I say that I worry for what our country is becoming.. It seems like these random acts of violence, terrorism or not, are becoming more frequent, and more violent. We are facing a life of fear, and many of us are already there.
As we grieve and pray for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, take this time to realize that life is precious and should not be taken for granted.

Is Your Child Missing Wisdom Teeth?
A new study has shown an association between local dental anesthesia and missing wisdom teeth.
Evidence has shown that children, ages 2-6 years who receive local anesthesia, are at risk for underdeveloped or no wisdom teeth. According to the study, this is caused by the injection itself disrupting the growth of the tooth.

Update On Oklahoma Patients Exposed To HIV:
If you didn't catch the story, last week (March 28th) a news story broke of an Oklahoma dentist who, by using dirty equipment and reusing needles, exposed nearly 7,000 people to HIV and hepatitis. (see my previous blog for the original story)
So far, only 1,200 patients have been screened, leaving nearly 6,000 patients still to be tested.
Although his license has been revoked, any legal action to be taken is still being decided upon by the district attorney.
I'm not sure how or even if we will ever know just how many victims will suffer because of this, but I will keep you posted with any and all updates I find.
