My Teeth Could Use Some Brightening- What Actually Works?
We all know that coffee, tea, wine, dark snacks and condiments will stain our teeth. This does not mean you have to swear them off Though!
The dietitian says:
Just rinse your mouth with water right after eating, or stash some sugar free chewing gum. Consider adding foods and drinks that work towards whiter teeth into your diet, such as cheese, fruit and veggies.
-Lisa Young, PH.D
The dentist says:
Use at home teeth whiting kits such as Crest 3D whiting strips for lighter stains. For darker stains or instant result you will need professional whitening.
-Marc Lowenberg, D.D.S.
The makeup artist says:.
Cool-toned lip colors create an optical illusion. Fair skin should wear pinks, medium/olive toned skin should wear reds, while darker skin tones should stick to plums. Another trick is to dust some bronzer. Tanned skin makes teeth stand out!

Dental Grills = Damage To Teeth
Dental grills are decorative covers often made of gold, silver and even diamonds. Generally grills snap over one or more teeth but some grills can be permanently mounted. Although grills bring "bling" to a smile, wearing them can be very damaging to your teeth.
People think that because grills are removable they are safe but that's not true says Dr. Matt Messina, consumer advisor to the American Dental Association.
Food and bacteria get trapped underneath and can cause gum infections, irritations and cavities and the longer it sits the worse the problems.
Dr. Messina also says that the type of metal used is a key factor as well. Grills made from gold or platinum do okay with the body were grills made from non-precious metal can be troublesome because they can cause allergic reactions.
If you wear dental grills and start to experience redness, swelling and pain around the gums stop wearing your grill and see your dentist right away!

Can Lipstick Help Brighten A Smile?
Who doesn't want to have a beautiful, sparkling smile?
The truth is, some people no matter how many times they brush their teeth or use whitening strips are prone to natural pale yellow teeth. Luckily for us ladies we have the power of lipstick!
I came across an article explaining how the different shades of lipstick can affect how your teeth look!
Below are the shades you will want to use to make your teeth seem pearly white:
- Rich reds and berry hues - These colors in enhance the smile and are perfect for a job interview, first date and a night out on the town!
- Blue and Violet undertones - Lip colors with blue undertones will counteract with yellow teeth, making your smile appear instantly white.
- Nude shiny glosses - This color gives you a nice friendly/approachable look and helps create the illusion teeth are shinier they they actually are.
Lip color fails:
- Coral/orange - This shade has the tendency to wash you out.
- Pale pink - This shade accentuated stains.
Who knew you could fake a whiter smile with a simple beauty product!
